The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Perpaduan Teras Kejayaaan’ and to start it off a thanksgiving prayer would be held on Thursday (Aug 28) at the old State mosque, where about 2,000 people are expected to attend.
On the eve of Merdeka Day will be the Merdeka countdown. It will be held at the Amphitheatre at Taman Budaya where the convoy from Lawas will arrive. The state and national flags will be raised at midnight.
On Sunday (Aug 31) a parade will be held at the State Stadium and it will be mounted by 90 contingents that will include the police and the army. In all 3,600 people will be in the parade.
An air show will also be held on that day.
