Sabati Women’s Museum
August 10th, 2007 | by lovebell |

Sabati Women’s Museum is situated at the Sarawak Tourism Complex. It is a timely tribute to the women whose sacrifices had brought hope and meaning to not just the less fortunate but society as a whole.
Although the museum is only in its first phase of development (it will be expanded over time), a visit there would be both a humbling as well as an inspiring experience.
The vision behind the museum is chiefly to educate and to provide information to the public and visitors to the State, as well as to ensure that the younger generation are aware of and acquainted with exemplary Sarawak women.
The exhibits in the museum, which was officially opened by Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, focus on the progress achieved by women from 1963 when Sarawak helped form Malaysia.
The exhibits are divided into nine categories – politics, social, education, business and economy, administration, arts, profession, sports and Sabati.
Sabati is short for “Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers”.
The opening hours of the museum at Block E of the Sarawak Tourism Complex are from 9am to 4.30pm everyday except Monday and it is closed on public holidays.
